Big Brother 8 Episode 3 - July 10th Re-Cap |

Welcome to your first Tuesday show recap. Kail feels she got off “Scotch free.” The veto competition was played and won by a surprising House Guest! Was the veto used? Lots of houseguests seem to be annoyed with Jen in this episode, Nick and Dick among them! Also, we see more of the angst with the 3 enemy pairs in the house. How are they feeling with each other during their first days in the house?
For more on all of this plus SPOILERS about the veto winner and ceremony (if you haven’t seen the episode), Read On!
Nomination Reactions
The episode begins with the reaction to Kail’s nominees at the end of Sunday’s episode. Jessica is thrilled that Carol was nominated and says things such as “Bye Carol, see you in 10 years at our high school reunion” in a really catty voice in the Diary Room. Kail thinks she has made the “perfect” nominations and will get off “Scotch Free” this week with all of the House Guests. Amber is shocked that Kail would nominate her because they are both Moms. Carol is more understanding but states she wants to stay in the house.
The Enemies First Days Together
We continue to see more of the first 5 days events that happened before the 24/7 Live Feeds went live. Here’s a recap of how our three enemy pairs are getting along. Joe and Dustin are both not happy that the other is in the Big Brother 8 house this Summer. They talk in the bedroom laying on opposite beds and agree to be cordial with each other and make the best of the situation. There is a bit of animosity in the tones of their voices when they speak to each other, but you can tell they are serious about trying to make the best of a bad situation. There is not much shown tonight with Dick and Daniele. It is assumed they have agreed to tolerate each other for game purposes. Carol and Jessica continue to be nice to each other’s faces, however, in the diary room, Jessica is very snarky regarding Carol. Carol, however, has not seemed to be that way towards Jessica in the Diary Room. Carol feels it is ridiculous that Big Brother thinks they are still enemies.
The Flirtations Begin
Nick immediately becomes drawn to Daniele. He feels like she is the one girl in the house who he can talk with and hang out with. The two spend lots of time in the hammock on “hammock dates” and share lots of personal talk with each other. Kail and Dick also begin a flirtation dance with one another. They connect over being the eldest male and female in the house and share lots of time together on the patio talking about the “old days” and things they have in common.
Jen and Nick and Jen and Dick (and other Odds and Ends)
Jen makes a random observation that she doesn’t like muscles on guys. There is then talk about the Nick/Daniele flirtation. Jen immediately says “Of course he went to Daniele after I wouldn’t let him kiss me.” Joe (who also admits he thinks Nick is “hot”) being Joe immediately runs to Nick with this juicy piece of information. Nick confronts Jen in front of all of the others telling her he never tried to kiss her, what is she talking about? Jen tells him of course he tried to kiss her. Nick gets angry and tells Jen she is “clueless” and walks away from the conversation.
Speaking of Jen, she is annoying many of the House Guests in tonight’s episode. She wears her “Jen” centric shirts (Jensa Member, Jenth degree, etc. etc.) which many of the House Guests secretly think are ridiculous. After the Nick incident, Joe confesses in the Diary Room that he feels “Jen lives in her own Jen world” (side note: like Joe doesn’t live in his own “Joe world” HAHA). There is also talk by many House Guests of putting Jen up on the block if the veto removes Carol or Amber from nomination.
Also speaking of Jen, there is an altercation between her and Dick in the HOH room as they are waiting for the Veto Competition to be completed. During the food competition, Jen made a comment that she “did not want Dick touching her.” Dick calls Jen out on these words and tells Jen that she was “rude.” He also says if she had said that in the real world, he would have torn apart those words and made her look like a fool, but because they are in the Big Brother 8 house, he is holding back. Jen is clueless, rolls her eyes, and says she thinks Dick “like way overreacted” in the Diary Room.
Odds and Ends: Of course, these are things in the episode that defy categorizing! The one odd and end that happened in episode 3 was that Carol took notice of the friendship developing between Nick, Mike and Zach and wonders in the Diary Room if they might be in an alliance.
America’s Choice: Eric’s Tall Tale to Kail
America chose Kail as the recipient of Eric’s tale of woe. We see Eric receiving the assignment excitedly in the Diary Room and then approaching Kail and going to the diary room to share his tall tale. Eric humorously used eye drops before approaching Kail to make him start to cry during their conversation. He tells her about how Daniele reminds him of a friend of his in high school who has an eating disorder and how much he worries about her health. The tears well up in his eyes and Kail tells him she knew something was wrong because “you’ve been so quiet lately.” In the Diary Room later, it appears that Kail bought the story (however, if you want to see the full version of Eric’s confession which actually lasted close to 10 minutes, the video was posted in a bulletin on the MBB Myspace Page earlier today. If you’re not our friend on Myspace, please add us at BigBrother Fans to see the video of this conversation and gauge Kail’s reaction for yourself : ) ). Eric is then told in the diary room he has successfully completed his first task. Eric reveals he loves this and is very excited for his next task, which unbeknownst to him but revealed in tonight’s episode is that we will get to decide who Eric votes for each week.
Veto Competition
The first veto competition of Big Brother 8 was interesting but sure made a mess of the house! Kail, Amber, and Carol pick Daniele, Jameka, and Nick respectfully as their fellow veto players. Jessica is chosen by Kail to host the competition. The remaining House Guests must wait in the HOH room while the competition is played. The task is a basic game of veto hide and seek. The 6 players all hide their vetos (veto medallions) in various places around the house (Daniele hides hers in the pot used to make Slop concoctions; Carol hides hers in Dick’s bed; Ambers is hidden in a pillowcase; Nick hides his under a bed; Kail’s veto is hidden in the box of teabags on top of the fridge; and Jameka hides her veto in her bag of hair which she makes clear in the Diary Room is NOT for a hair weave!) The object of the game was not to have your veto found. Once the HGs find 5 of the 6 vetos, the HG whose veto is not found is the winner of the first veto comp.
As the HGs tear the house apart trying to find the vetos (and Jameka is not thrilled that her bed and bag of clothes were thrown all over the floor), finally five of the six vetos are found. Jessica as hostess reveals whose vetos were found. It is revealed throughout the competition that Carol found Amber’s veto; Kail found Nick’s veto; Nick found Jameka’s veto; Daniele found Carol’s veto; and Jameka found Kail’s veto.
Daniele’s veto medallion in the slop pot was not found and so she wins the competition.
Veto Ceremony
At the end of tonight’s episode, Daniele’s veto ceremony is held. Not surprisingly, Daniele does not use the veto and Carol’s and Amber’s nominations stand. In the Diary Room, Carol tells us “Despite what I have said, I am NOT ready to go home!” and Amber tells us she “is having too much fun in the Big Brother house to go home the first week.” Who will leave the Big Brother 8 house on Thursday? Carol or Amber? You will have to tune in to find out : )
More Big Brother’s own Little Brother will have Thursday’s eviction episode recap for you! Make sure to come to our Live Chat at 8:00 P.M. Eastern time on Thursday as we all watch and wait to find out whether Amber or Carol will be talking to Julie and we find out who our next HOH becomes!
