The current rumor is that an insider who claims to have seen a casting list for Big Brother 8 has leaked it onto the internet.  I don't know how much I believe this apparent source's list, despite the fact that she also claims to have released accurate casting spoilers for Survivor in past seasons.  CBS has been very silent about who will be on the show this year (if they do give us any clues it will most definitely be on the Live Feed), and this leads me to believe one of four things may be at work here:

1) The leaked cast list for Big Brother 8 is accurate and this informant is 100% legitimate (not terribly likely in my opinion); 

2) The list was created by a bored fan who wanted to get people talking about the show and doesn't contain any real information (very likely); 

3) The informant believes this information to be true but was given the wrong information - maybe even partially (perhaps); 

4) CBS is responsible for releasing teaser information to generate buzz before Big Brother 8 premieres in July (call me a conspiracy theorist, but this could also be very likely!). It isn't uncommon for a network or production company to plant seeds all over the internet to build hype... anything is possible.

Here are the House Guests for Big Brother 8, taken from the supposed casting list (each name had a bio under a picture of the cast member):

"Tara Bourke: young, good looking, has an extremely nice body --- youngest House Guest.

Tiffany Dalton: oldish black woman.

Rodger (no last name): older Asian male. Teacher at some school.

Carol Ricardi: older woman (mother figure).

 

Gabby Ngyugen: young Asian girl. Huge smile.

Amanda Adams: Late twenties blonde woman. Looks like some celebrity. Former cheerleader?

Could this be HER?

 

Mitchell "Mitchy" Vance: Good looking younger male. 

Robby Williams or Wallace: Very young. Apparently part of some group for gay teens?

Jared Pfifer: Good looking....Spanish?

David Mertz: Good looking man in his forties.

Andi (no last name): Blonde girl in her early twenties. 

Morgan (no last name): Older gay male... possibly not gay?

Melanie (no last name): No information. I'm not even sure if she was a final House Guest as she had no number... just a name and a location (Florida).  

Unidentified male: Couldn't find anything about this guy (possibly no 14th House Guest?) There was a blank spot for him on the sheet with a number....but nothing else. 

Some houseguests know each other from high school. Some listed the same high school that they attended.

David and Carol know each other (or did)...

Robie and Jared know each other (or did)....

Mitchell and Amanda know each other (or did)...

Gabby and Tara know each other (or did)."

High School Twist for Big Brother 8?

One of the early theories for Big Brother 8 was that the House Guests knew each other in high school (either they dated, one of them bullied the other, or were teacher and student).  The apparent casting list lends some credibility to the idea (there's even a teacher on there), but then again it also could have been made up with that in mind.  So confusing!

I did a search on some of the names, and was able to find a pretty close match for Gabby Ngyugen on MySpace (she even has a huge smile, like the casting list said), and a search for David Mertz brought up a 40-something developer on Wikipedia (perhaps a computer geek who was teased in high school?).

And of course, "Amanda Adams" is the same name as a former contestant on The Amazing Race... it is kind of a common name, but maybe it is possible.  Allison went from Big Brother 4 to the Amazing Race to Big Brother All Stars - why can't it work the other way around?

Until I hear otherwise, I am going to continue to research the names on the list.  If anything, it will be a nice distraction until the first episode airs and I can start posting re-caps of the episodes!

(One thing that does make me kind of sad, I have to admit, is that there is no "Janelle Pierzina" on the list. It would probably be overkill to bring Janey back for the third season in a row, but I  definitely wouldn't complain.)
