Phoenix is rising (Sunday 3/16 recap)

For the first 20 minutes or so of tonights episode we got to see all the great parts of the HoH competition and thankfully didn't have to much of Natalie's never ending chatter. While watching it on the CBS.com 24/7 live feeds I felt so sorry for James. She was up there almost 5 hours and I do not think she shut up for more than 5 minutes, combined.

Going into the competition Matt made it clear that he knew the house was divided. The two sides are Ryan, Adam, Sheila, Natalie and Matt against James, Chelsia, Sharon and Josh. Since Ryan could not play in the HoH competition it was 4 against 4 and Matt knew that his life in the house depended on one of his crew winning the competition. James makes it clear in the DR that he had to win HoH because it was his dignity on the line.

The HG's had interesting comments when it came to voting James out and then voting him back in. Josh admitted that he felt bad because he knew that James trusted him. Adam felt terrible about betraying James. Matt and Ryan were both happy to see James walk out the door because they both knew that he was a threat. Sharon was upset for James because she knew he was screwed over. It seemed like Matt and Ryan were the only ones that did not regret their decision to get James out of the house. Will that be a foreshadowing of what is to come at the nomination ceremony?

hoh-competitionThe HoH competition was impossible for some and easy for no one. Adam, Josh and Matt were both out within the first 30 - 45 minutes of the game. Sheila made it to an hour but then complained that she felt like she was going to puke and fell off, but not before admitting to James that she was one of the three votes to bring the mystery house guest back into the house. After Sheila falls of Matt is nervous because it leaves Natalie up there fighting against Sharon, Chelsia and James and he knew that if any of the three win the game then he will be on the block.

James admits that he will stay on there all night long. When prompted by Josh Natalie states that there is nothing that could make her come off, that she wants HoH because she hasn't had it. Later in the DR James admitted that listening to Natalie constantly talking was more painful that standing on the small disc for so long.

During the third hour on the disco balls Sharon falls off stating that she is "done". Matt and Ryan question Adam's loyalty
and wonder how easy it would be for him to switch to the other side. Matt also tells Ryan about how Natalie's voice aggravates him. They then try to figure out why she would have voted for James to come back in the house. Matt decides that she is just an "idiot".

Natalie realizes that it is all up to her. She knows that to insure that Matt stays in the house that she has to win the competition. Matt tells her that if she wins he will FINALLY give her her massage. She tells him that she deserves it and the whole house agrees.

At a little over 3 hours into the game Natalie tries to assure James and Chelsia that it is ok if they fall off, that they are not her target. James says he doesn't care. At 3 hours and 19 minutes Chelsia slips, falls off, and is pissed at herself. Matt can not believe that it is now down to just Natalie and James. In the DR James stated that at this point he knew it was all up to him and that the only way he was coming off that ball before Natalie was if lightening struck him off of it.

nat-and-james-hoh-competitionJust shy of the 4 hour mark James tells Natalie that if she promises to put Ryan on the block that he will drop. Natalie says that it would be a good deal but Ryan tells her not too and gets mad because James is screwing him over. James said that Ryan is the one who backdoored him to which Ryan responds that James voted him out the week before. James says that it doesn't matter because he is back in the house now, and then tells Natalie never mind. After his conversation with Ryan it is clear that James must win the competition on his own.

4 hours and 5 minutes into the game Natalie is dry heaving, dehydrated and spitting. She looks like she is about to pass out and the entire house, including Matt feels bad for her. Matt realizes what she is doing and knows that she is doing it all for him. Chelsia tells Matt that if she ever see's him treating Natalie like shit again that she will kick his ass because everything she is doing is for Matt. Matt agrees that Natalie is awesome.

James proceeds to try to make another deal with Natalie. He promises that he will not put her or Matt on the block. Finally at 4 hours and 26 minutes into the game Natalie lets go and falls off the ball. While James jumps off and walks around unscathed by standing there so long, Natalie can not get up and is clearly sick. The HG's surround her while she gains strength. As they come off the game platform James tells Matt and Natalie that his word is good, unlike everyone else's in the house and that he will not put them up.

After the competition Matt states that he saw a different side of Natalie and that he knows that she stood on the ball for almost 5 hours for him. She even got her massage from him, although he refused to play with...errrr massage her breasts. Bummer for Natalie!

Sharon and Josh talk in private about who they think James will put up on the block against Ryan. Josh is worried it is him and Sharon tries to assure him that it won't be. Nobody in the house really knows what James is thinking though. Josh starts scheming trying to uncover who the third person is that voted against James in the vote to bring him in the house. He knows that it was either Adam or Matt. Matt won't say which way he voted and when confronted by Josh, Adam states adamantly that he voted for James to come back and runs of to make sure James knows that. Adam doesn't want to be put on the block this week because James thinks that he didn't vote for him. In response to Adam's exclamation James says simply that he doesn't care and that all that matters now is that he is back.

The next morning Ryan goes to the HoH room and tells James that he knows that James wants to put him on the block because of the way Ryan backdoored him. James tells him that he was evicted and when Ryan tries to say that the same thing happened to him, James points out that Ryan never walked out those doors and that he never talked to Julie. James tells Ryan that he is letting Matt run his game and questions him about how close two people can really be after just 30 some odd days. James tells Ryan that he needs to get ready for a very intense week. In the DR later James makes it clear to the viewers that Ryan is definitely going up, but that with everyone else in the house besides Chelsia voting him out in the first place, that he doesn't know who he should put up against him.

As James is sticking the keys in the nomination wheel we hear he state that this week is going to be about his rise from the ashes and how the Pheonix is back. He states that everyone but Chelsia voted him out, but then they MISTAKENLY brought him back. After the house guests gather James gives a moving little speech which I am not sure any of them rememberd 10 minutes later. He started off by making good on his promise to Natalie and pulled her key showing she was safe. She then pulled out Matt's key. After that tribute was finally paid to Sharon and the fact that she did not cast a vote against him to get him out of the house, and then finally the obvious key, Chelsia's was pulled. That left Josh, Adam Sheila and Ryan all of who had valid reasons to be concerned.

In the end it was Sheila and Ryan that James put on the block. He told Sheila that she proved her word was no good and because of that her word may be what would get her kicked out of the house. James then told Ryan that while he understand that being backdoored was a strategic move the week before, that this was not a strategic move. If you read between the lines it is clear that is is a revenge move.

Afterwards Ryan gloats, says that he is the "King of the block" being on it 3 times now and getting off the two previous times. Shelia says that she is not going to cry, that she is just pissed and that it has made her stronger. That is entirely possible since realistically so far she has been very weak in the game. Matt is thankful to Natalie and knows that she is the only reason he was not nominated. Hopefully, for Natalie's sake, he will continue to remember that in the weeks to come. James is just thrilled, states that this is the biggest revenge move in BB history and calls everyone in the house stupid. In reality, he is probably right.

Until next time tune into the CBS.com 24/7 live feeds to find out who wins POV and what they do with it!
