Just in time for Valentine’s Day CBS Big Brother 9 announces that they are playing Cupid this season and yet again surprised us all with a major twist on the first episode. 

The house guests were introduced to us as all being single and all looking for love. But who is really single and who is just playing the singles game?  Who is really looking for love and who is just looking to win?  Who will stay together “Til Death Do Us Part?”

Tonight Julie Chen surprised us all by revealing the nature of this season’s household.  First of all, the house guests were paired up with their ‘soul mate’ as described in their character questionnaire.  But are these couples really a match made in Heaven? 

For Sheila and Adam, the bickering of an old married couple began straight away when Sheila admitted that Adam was NOT her type and broke down in tears at the thought of having to sleep in the same sleeping bag as him (poor woman didn’t even get a bed!).

Jacob and Sharon were not impressed with their pairing as ‘soul mates’ and made it clear from the very beginning that this is “going to be a long three months”.  After a 12 year on and off relationship that ultimately ended with Jacob cheating on Sharon, the only way their pairing will survive is if Sharon can forgive and forget (at least for their time in the Big Brother house!).

Allison is definitely one to watch out for.  She seems to know how to play the game perfectly by holding back information in order to manipulate the guests at the appropriate time (don’t they call that poker face?).  Her partner Ryan will have to play the game very carefully if he doesn’t want Allison and the other house guests to find out that him and Jen are a real life couple!

Speaking of Jen, that girl’s a feisty one!  In my opinion she took the “What’s your name again?” routine a little overboard, but the Amanda’s of the group seemed to really buy it.  Any more of Jen’s over-acting and their dirty little secret is bound to come out, especially since Parker is a professional stalker and is paid to seek out people’s skeletons.  Parker seems like a smart guy and I’m sure he’ll crack the code.

Matt needs a reality check (oh wait, he’s on the right kind of show for that!).  The fact that he got paired up with Natalie will make this pairing even more interesting!  I predict these two will be the first to hook up and will probably go pretty far in the show mainly due to their (over) confidence in themselves.

Joshua and Neil are adorable and everyone will fall in love with them whether they are gay or straight.  Their pairing lends a nice twist to the conventional heterosexual ideals of the American public.  Crazy James and Chelsia had an immediate connection when Chelsia asked of James, “Are you a triathalonist?”.  You have to be a bit crazy to be able to handle James as a partner and it takes two to tango.  This couple is meant for each other.  End of story.

LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS

Tonight’s episode ended with the “Falling for You” challenge.  Each couple had to hold on to the other while being suspended over a bed for as long as they can until the last couple still holding on won Power Couple with the ability to vote another couple off the show.  With an interesting twist, Parker and Jen not only won immunity and the VIP room, but also won $10,000 to split between them by simply picking up a pillow off the bed.  By doing this they also formed an alliance with Matt and Natalie by agreeing to keep them safe if they let them win.

The show ended before we could find out who was evicted but I have the feeling that Sheila and Adam will be the first to go.  However, Parker wants Ryan and Allison out of the house because he feels threatened by their brawn and brains.  Obviously Jen will fight till the death before she herself votes off her own real life soul mate, Ryan.

MY PREDICTIONS FOR BIG BROTHER 9

          *Lots of sleeping in the wrong beds

-         *Jacob and Sharon will fall back in love

-         *Ryan and Jen won’t be able to keep their dirty little secret for too much longer

-         *Sheila and Adam will be the first to be voted off

-         *Joshua and Neil go along way in the competition, might win this one

-         *Matt and Natalie will give live feeds members their money’s worth!

-         *James and Chelsia could be runners up if Chelsia can stick with one soul mate
