DAN'S FIRST IMPRESSIONS - HOUSEGUESTS AND COUPLES REVIEWED |
Hello More Big Brother readers! I’m back with my first impressions of the first episode of Big Brother 9: Til Death Do You Part. I’ll be telling you about my first impressions of each HG individually and then I will analyze each couple and their chances. Finally, I’ll look at tonight’s HOH competition and give you my opinions on it and this season’s house! So grab your live feeds and read on ...
So let’s begin with the guys!
Parker is a paparrazo who stalks celebrities. He puts a human face to this occupation and seems a lot nicer than most of these people have a reputation of being. Parker is paired with Jen, who is secretly playing the game with Ryan and wants Ryan out of the game (not knowing the Jen/Ryan secret pairing). I see Parker as a strong player. I also see down the road Jen and Ryan will want to make an alliance with their partners, Parker and Allison.
Ryan seems to be a nice guy so far though very quiet in my opinion (nothing wrong with that; James, my ultimate favorite BB player, was also quiet at first believe it or not!) He is secretly paired with his girlfriend Jen but ‘soul mates’ with Allison. If these two couples form an alliance, they have a good chance at being the final 2 couples!
Alex is interesting. He is a DJ who owns his own DJ business and claims to have money. He is hiding this fact from the HGs though (with good reason!) To be honest, Alex reminds me the most of James of anyone this season. I can see him either being the most loved or the most hated this season. Mark my words, he’ll be one of the two!
Adam is kind of annoying. He is paired with Sheila and neither are happy about it. They both are very vocal about their hatred for each other and both seem very abrasive and not nice people. Adam and Sheila gave up in the competition first tonight and if they make it past the first eviction, I’ll be shocked!
My first impression of Jacob was is he really religious given the cross and the Bible and the prayer shown when they first showed him in the introductions. Then we learned that he cheated on his ex girlfriend, Sharon, who he is paired with on the show much to both of their chagrin. Jacob has a nice smile and I like him, BUT it seems odd to me that someone who is so religious would cheat on his girlfriend of 12 years. Interesting!
“Crazy” James is homeless and is ‘biking around the world” (how he’s going to get across the oceans I do not know!) My first thought when I saw him was “Is this guy going to be like Puck from Real World: San Francisco?” and to be honest, the jury is still out on that one! I haven’t seen enough of him yet to know whether he’s loveably eccentric or like the Puck-ster. Time will tell!
Joshua is bisexual but is paired with Neil as his “soul mate.” I didn’t really get to see much of him tonight but he seems nice enough. Another guy with a great smile and just from the brief interview they did with him tonight, I wonder if he will be a bit devious!
Matt is the lothario of the house. He is VERY into himself and has an East Coast accent. He likes to “lift weights” and made comments (most of them sexist) about every woman in the house. If he learns to watch his mouth, he could make it far in the game because he seems like a strong competitor.
Neil is gay and paired with bisexual Joshua. He seems nice and affable. He is another HG who wasn’t focused on much tonight. If he and Joshua can stay under the radar, both of them are nice enough to go far in the game.
And now for the women ...
Jen is in the secret pairing with Ryan but “soul mates” with Parker. She won the first competition along with $10,000 and is a good competitor. She also appears to be genuine and nice. I like her so far! Who knows if that will change! (I liked Jun at first too!)
I’ll be honest about Amanda. To me, she appears kind of ditzy. I could be wrong, but just giving you my first impression! I’m not sure how far she will go in the game and I’m shocked that Alex is her ‘soul mate.’ I think Alex will carry her throughout the game because he is a strong player. I don’t think I can say the same about Amanda.
Sheila, Sheila, Sheila! You win the Big Brother 8 Jen award for whiney-ness and overreaction to something you had no control over! So you’re not happy with your match, Adam! GET OVER IT and suck it up for the game! All she did after being paired with Ryan was whine and complain. Being the oldest person in the house, why would you place such a HUGE target on your back on the first day!? Have you EVER watched reality shows before!?
Allison is a pro gambler and admits to having a past gambling addiction. She thinks this will benefit her by having the ability to read people. She should learn from Jean Robert of Survivor: China: just because you’re good at gambling and reading people at that game, it doesn’t make you automatically good at the social game of Big Brother! Other than that, the jury is out tonight. She wasn’t really focused on too much other than the interview where she admitted the above information.
Chelsia is paired with Crazy James. I’m not sure how well that couple will work out. She appears to be fun loving and bubbly. If she can accept James’ quirks, she might go far in the game. She has potential to be kind of annoying though!
Natalie is from Oregon and serves coffee in a bikini as a barista (which Matt thoroughly enjoyed hearing about!) She can go far with her partner Matt! They are strong at competitions and only gave in at the end on a promise not to be evicted by Parker and Jen. She may just be the person to neutralize the Matt factor. I think Matt has the potential of being disliked by the women but may not get evicted because the women like Natalie. We shall see!
Finally, we have Sharon, this season’s Allison (just look at the resemblance). She’s in the game with her ex, Jacob, as her soul mate. I do feel sorry for her for being cheated on, however, she was super annoying in the bickering with Jacob. If she could get past their past, they could be the couple to beat in this game! Just calm down and stop being so much like Allison, ok Sharon?
The Couples:
Here’s my low down on the couples. I’ve mentioned some of my thoughts in the above impressions of the HGs but I wanted to give my thoughts on each couple’s chances in the game:
Alex and Amanda: It will depend on the strength of Alex. Amanda does not seem to be a strong competitor, but Alex does. This could be an interesting combination!
James and Chelsia: If Chelsia can make friends fast, she could neutralize the Crazy James factor. If James is like Puck from Real World, he’s going to get on everyone’s nerves VERY quickly. Chelsia will have a lot of work on her hands throughout the game keeping James in check! Time will tell!
Matt and Natalie: Strong at competitions, but Matt is going to piss some of the ladies off with his sexism that he doesn’t even realize he exhibits! Natalie is going to have to work hard to neutralize this factor and get the others to keep them for ‘her sake.’
Jen and Parker: STRONG! Won tonight’s HOH competition AND ten thousand dollars! They have the power to evict a couple on the first day in the house! This could (but won’t) put a target on their backs. They will most likely evict Sheila and Adam, the easy eviction that won’t rock the boat in the house. Watch out for this couple if they align with Ryan and Allison!
Joshua and Neil: I’m still on the fence with these guys. They just weren’t focused on enough for me to make a determination one way or the other. I think they have the potential to be strong, but Joshua struck me as being potentially annoying and I’m not sure why! Who knows, maybe I will love these guys by the end of the season, but right now, I’m just not sure.
Jacob and Sharon: “The Exes” and supposedly still soul mates. Bicker bicker bicker! That’s what these two will do, especially because Sharon has MAJOR Allison potential! If they’re not careful, they could find themselves out the door quickly!
Ryan and Allison: I’m not so sure that they are soul mates, however, I think they will be a power couple because I foresee a quick alliance between them and Parker and Jen because of the Ryan/Jen secret twist.
Sheila and Adam: I don’t think you will see them after tomorrow night. Easily the first couple to be evicted. If they are not, I will be super shocked! They are not happy to be paired together and I can actually see Sheila asking to be evicted because she’s so mad about it. Bye bye to these two!
THE TWISTS AND THE HOUSE
I like the Log Cabin idea for the house this season. I have also read they will not be running the ac in the house because it’s winter, no matter how hot it gets in L.A. I also believe there is no swimming pool, just a hot tub. I think the twist of each couple having a separate bedroom to be interesting, could create lots of secret meetings going on for the Live Feeds. I am not sure why they didn’t have enough bedrooms for all of the couples, I found that to be kind of annoying.
The Exes is kind of annoying. Do we always have to have one couple who are exes in every season? They are only there to create drama and to fight, which will get really old really fast. I am not thrilled with this twist in the least.
I am, however, liking the twist of Ryan and Jen being a secret couple paired with Allison and Parker. I see an alliance happening really quickly here and I think it’s going to be interesting!
