Sunday Recap - Sunday Sept 2 |
 It’s Sunday episode recap time! What happened during tonight’s episode you might ask? Well, a lot actually! We learn that Zach won the HOH competition and that Eric wins a phone call from home which he graciously gives to Jess! The HGs forego hot water for 8 days and Dani and Dick formulate a new plan to get Zach on their side and avoid nomination. We also see Eric confess some of his secrets (but not the ultimate AP secret) to Jess during one of their late night pillow talk sessions and Jess gets her phone call from home from her little brother, Dean.
We also learn who Zach’s nominations are and the fallout of them as well as we see a new sub alliance form. Want to know all the details? Read on!
Eviction Fallout and HOH Results
After the obligatory review we get with each and every episode, we are
treated to the reactions of the HGs over Amber’s eviction: Dick is
elated that “the bitch” is gone while Jameka is devastated. As Amber
is walking out the door, she whispers to Daniele to get Eric out. Dani
laughs in the DR that it’s hilarious how nobody realizes D/D are
aligned with Jess/Eric.
Next, we cut to the HOH competition to see the action that ensued after
Thursday’s episode. Eric doesn’t have much balance in the comp and
continuously falls in some painful to watch moments! As the
competition goes on, Jessica takes over hosting duties from Julie Chen
and tells the HGs that there is a small beaker next to the end of their
lanes and if they choose to fill it up rather than the huge vat for
HOH, they can win a phone call from home. Daniele puts a little tea in
the beaker but then realizes that’s not a wise decision and goes back
to the vat. Eric realizes he’s pretty much not going to win the HOH
comp because he is so far behind and, thus, goes for the phone call,
which he wins : )
Later in the HOH comp the 4 competing HGs are offered bigger cups to use. BB’s catch, however, is that every cup represents one day without hot water for the house. All 4 of the HGs don’t care and take the bigger cups, putting the entire house on cold water for 8 days (they are, however, allowed hot water in the kitchen for doing dishes).
 The competition quickly becomes a race between Dick and Zach. Dick
uses his former skills as a waiter to hold his balance. Zach moves
fast and also holds his balance well. Eric and Dani are so far behind
in the competition that BB doesn’t even focus on them during the latter
part of the comp LOL In a tense showdown, Zach wins the HOH comp by a
hair barely beating Dick. Zach is so happy he does a celebratory slide
down the greased up alley and gets his HOH key from Jess screaming
“from zero to hero!” As the segment on the HOH comp finalizes, we see
Eric struggle on whether to give his phone call to Jessica or Jameka
(he didn’t even consider keeping it for himself which I think was very
selfless!) He realized that Jameka has not had any contact from home
but still decides he’d rather give Jess a call from home so that she
can possibly hear from her little brother who just got back from Iraq.
Zach as HOH: The Fallout
Dick realizes he might be in trouble with Zach as HOH given that he went off on Zach for playing both sides an hour before Amber’s eviction (you’d think he would have learned after doing the same thing to Jen right before she won HOH LOL). Dick realizes he’s going to have to do some major damage control with Zach and decides it’s in their best interest for Daniele to be the peacekeeper and cozy up to Zach’s side this week (which ultimately became a good move on their part!). In the flashback scene, we see Dick being Dick and going off screaming at Zach and telling him “don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining” and calls him a “stupid son of a bitch!” Zach, used to Dick’s rants, barely responds and doesn’t give Dick the satisfaction of a fight. Zach just says he’s doing what’s best for himself in the game, the same way Dick does (good point!)
In the DR, Eric realizes his strategy of not using the veto last week backfired big time. None of the HGs thought that Zach had a chance because he hadn’t won any previous competitions (side note: Eric forgot the number one rule of BB, NEVER underestimate ANYONE, even the person that never wins comps, in the end of the game!) Eric and Jessica both fear that one or both of them are going up, especially Jess given that she put Zach up last week.
 Later, we get to see the continuation of Dani’s new ‘friendship’ with Zach as she hangs out with him by the pool (hilariously Zach is using his pants as a flotation device LOL). She tries to convince him to put Eric up because “Eric and Jess will put you up if you don’t!” At this point, Dick feels Dani has done her job well and moves in to become part of this new sub alliance, which Zach falls for hook, line and sinker!
Eric and Jessica: The Showmance Continues
Later in tonight’s episode, we get to see Eric and Jessica hanging out in bed where Eric reveals some of his secrets to Jess. Jess confesses the four things she has learned from being in the BB house: 1) She doesn’t want a big family, 2) That Zach can always hear you, even when you think he can’t, 3) that a man as old as her father can act more like a child than her 3 year old brother, and 4) that she can trust people even though it’s really hard at times. It’s after that last statement that Eric decides to confess to Jess that he was the mystery voter during this season’s earlier evictions. He also confesses to putting the mustard on Jen’s shirt. When Jessica asks why he’s telling her all of this, he says it’s so she knows he trusts her and so that there are no surprises later on (well Eric there will still be some surprises LOL).
 We also get to she Jessica’s phone call from her younger brother Dean, who recently returned from Iraq. Dean tells her that he and her best friend are both home safe and sound and that everyone loves her and is rooting for her. He also tells her that they are making BOOYAH shirts in Kansas and that everyone wants one. Jess tearfully confesses she is so happy that Eric gave her the phone call because she got to hear that her brother and best friend are home safe. She also says the hardest thing about agreeing to do BB was that she knew she would not be home for their homecoming so the phone call was the next best thing (which is ultimately why I think Eric gave it to her!).
In another DR session, Eric learns that America wants him to get Jameka nominated which he easily convinces Zach of in the HOH bedroom. Tonight’s America’s Choice: Whose annoying habit should Eric mimic? (Side note: my thought on this task is that Eric should deny it. It’s way too late in the game to annoy someone you later want a vote from by mimicking them. However, if anyone can pull it off, it’s Eric!)
Zach’s Nominations and Fallout
As we see Zach preparing for the nomination ceremony, we hear his thoughts as he confesses he feels he is making the best nominations for his place and safety in the game. He takes the key box to the table and tells the HGs that this was a very hard process given that there are only five HGs left to choose from. The three keys that were pulled went like this: Zach pulled Dick’s key, Dick pulled Daniele’s key and Daniele pulled Eric’s key. Jameka and Jessica are our two nominees this week, this being Jessica’s first time on the nomination block.
 Zach’s reasoning for nominating the ladies: To Jameka, it was the lame ‘I haven’t forged a relationship with you in the house’ excuse which, by this point in the game, smacks of being VERY fake. As for Jessica, he says it’s not because she put him up last week (sure, Zach LOL) but because she’s a huge threat in the game.
In the DR, Jessica says she feels her nomination is a copout and just an excuse for Zach not to put up the real threats, Dick and Daniele! Dani and Dick are gleeful that their “Dani friendship” plan paid off, Jameka says she’s not surprised at all, and Eric feels ultimately responsible and devastated that Jessica is up for eviction. He also feels that Jessica feels this way as well.
