Dan Wins Big Brother 10 !

Well, Slop has returned, the nominations have been made, and the House Guests are already starting to make alliances (which, as we all know, are destined to change with the winds as the weeks progress). All of this didn't happen, though, without a LOT of tears. I can't believe how many people were crying this early in the season!
For a play-by-play of tonight's episode (basically a big SPOILER-fest), read on!
The Enemies
The show starts out with a review of the enemy pairs: exes Dustin & Joe, estranged family Dick & Daniele, and high school haters Jessica & Carol. Dustin tries to talk to an overly-dramatic Joe, and is quickly dismissed (although any Live Feed watcher knows what's really going on with these two)... Daniele ignores her dad's attempts at a truce & hug, and Jessica & Carol laugh about how random it is that they are perceived as arch-enemies, when they are basically fine with each other. Of course, ten seconds later Jessica is trashing Carol in the Diary Room. How high school!
This is when we see our first set of waterworks. Daniele runs to the bathroom, crying, and Jameka, Kail, and Amber are quick to hug and console her. In the Diary Room, Dick brings on round 2 of the tears and talks about how he can't backstab / hurt / betray his daughter... and that this isn't a game anymore: this is his life.
Valley Girl Breakdown
Before we even have a chance to recover from the crying enemies, the most absurd sobbing House Guest since Bunky steps up to the plate. At first I thought I was going to hate Jessica the most (who, by the way, I am growing to like mainly because I like the catty ones), but I think I have settled in with my nemesis for the season: the ever self-absorbed, completely clueless, and utterly vapid Jen. It's a good thing that every article of clothing this girl owns has her name on it, because I have a feeling that she might forget it otherwise.
But I digress.
The portrait wall for Big Brother 8 lights up, and all of the House Guests get a glimpse at their faces for the season, which will be greyed out as each successive House Guest is evicted. While most of the House Guests like their pictures, or are indifferent, Jen suddenly breaks down into heaving sobs and places her hand over her picture. In the diary room she blubbers about how the picture is of her bad side, her eyes have bags, and her hair is a mess... she then covers the picture and attaches a note to the Big Brother producers to replace it ASAP.
I couldn't believe how insane she went over this - and neither could her fellow House Guests. True to form, Jessica is completely shocked and makes fun of Jen's antics. Joe is in amazement, and then adds that he thinks his picture is incredibly cute. (As a total side note, in the Live Feeds Zach tells Kail that he thinks Joe looks like a large bird in his portrait. When I first saw Joe I thought he looked vaguely like the evil puppet in the Saw movies... I think it's the huge cheeks.)
Mrs. Robinson's Army
As the first HoH, Kail has to nominate two people for eviction from a large group - many of whom she doesn't know that well, yet. In the Diary Room she comments that the hard part with this many people is that there is not only a risk of angering those up on the chopping block, but also any of the others in the house who may be strategizing with them.
Deciding to get things in motion quickly, Kail talks to Mike in the HoH Room, who tells her that he wants to ally himself with one, solid person until the very end and he thinks that she's that person. Kail is overjoyed because she thinks that she and Mike can relate. Trying to gather more support (or a protective shield of minions to do her bidding), Captain Kail builds her army even further, and approaches Zach and Nick who eagerly agree to join up the cause. Now, with a group of strong men behind her, the oldest woman in the house has assumed the role of Mrs. Robinson, and if they do make it to the end together she can let the guys pick each other off.
(Another side note: on numerous occasions in the Live Feeds, Kail has mentioned stringing Jen along with the group, as everyone in the house hates her and she is a free vote. I hope this alliance doesn't make it for the sole reason that I don't think I could handle seeing any more of Jen than I need to.)
Food Competition: "Big Hair vs. Big Bodies"
In the first food competition for the season, the house is divided into two teams (Red & Blue), and the goal is simple - using their bodies only, one House Guest must man a huge pump of butter and squirt it on his/her teammates. The teammates must then run to a tub of popcorn and get the butter off themselves and into the tub. The team with the most butter weight at the end wins, with the losers eating Slop for a week.
Jessica notes that her team has all of the guys, and the other has all of the girls. Thus, the differentiation of "Big Hair vs. Big Bodies" is born.
This is also where the Jen/Dick fight that has been alluded to on the Live Feeds (as well as Dan's recent post) began. Jen tells Dick that he doesn't want him touching her. In the Diary Room she elaborates, saying, "I don't want some old man feeling my buttery body up." Dick flies into a rage in the Diary Room, assuring all of the viewers that the last thing he wants to do is touch Jen.
After a long, greasy (and kind of hot, in a weird way) competition, the winners are declared. Joe, Jessica, Jameka, Eric, Nick, Zach, and Daniele are stuck on Slop for a week. My girl Jameka (love her) thinks that it'll be OK because she loves oatmeal - after one taste, however, she gathers her other Slop-eating House Guests in the Diary Room and yells into the camera, "This stuff isn't even LEGAL in some countries... it's so bad."
The Enemies (Round 2)
In the hammock, Dustin & Joe continue to fight over who gave who the clap, within earshot of the others. Dustin realizes that their drama puts huge targets on both of them, and tries again to make nice with his ex. The quote of the night (QOTN) goes to Dustin when he tells Joe that he still makes him "shake like an epileptic in an arcade". Joe comes back at him with weird accusations and tells Dustin that he "created him" and "spoon-fed him his life". In the face of this randomness, Dustin has no idea what to say.
In the bathroom, Dick tries again to make up with Daniele, but she basically ignores him. He spills that this is the first time in his life when he felt like no one liked him. Daniele tells him that he is trying too hard (i.e. name dropping every ten seconds and coming on too strong). Dick heeds this advice and appreciates his daughter's help. At that moment they agree - at least within the context of the game - to watch each others' backs. Awww.
Nominations!
Basic ceremony. Blah blah, people all sit at the table, blah blah HoH removes a key, blah blah repeat. Kail hands the keys to Dustin, Dick, and Jessica because they are immune this week, then pulls out Eric. Eric pulls a surprised Joe, who exclaims "Thank you, KAIIIIL!". Joe pulls Zach. Zach pulls Daniele. Next is Jen, then Mike, Jameka, and finally Nick. Carol & Amber are up for eviction, with the rationale that they were the first to lose the HoH competition. Fair enough. Carol is OK with the reasoning, whereas Amber (you guessed it) starts to CRY (by the way, she cries earlier in the episode when talking about her family in the hammock with Dustin & Carol) and says that she never would have put Kail up, out of respect for the fact that they are both mothers.
Then, just for good measure, the camera turns on Jameka wiping TEARS away... why is SHE crying!? Just so much sobbing... it's boggling.
Stay tuned for the next re-cap, and don't forget to vote for Eric's next move in the house (who should he pour his heart out to with a fake traumatic story? - reminds me of Jonny Fairplay in Survivor: Cook Islands with the dead grandmother!)
Cheers!
