Dan's Thursday Recap: Final two? |
 Well MBB readers, it’s hard to believe this is my final episode recap of Big Brother 8 (Little Brother will bring you Sunday’s recap and Under Cover Brother will recap the finale for you.) What an episode we had tonight! We found out the winner of Parts 1 and 2 of the HOH competition as well as the ultimate winner in Round 3! We saw the toll 3 straight days of competitions took on our final 3.
We also got to see what happened when Jameka arrived at the jury house and how Eric and Jessica have been doing. Finally, we had the final eviction of the season and our Final 2 are in place!

What happened this week?
The episode starts with a recap of the week so far. Zach says he’s going to be the muscle necessary to get one of the Donatos out of the house. Dick and Dani mock him at the nomination ceremony. Next shown is Daniele winning the final POV of the season and Dick immediately attacking Zach for putting them both up. Zach responds with a mocking ‘OH!’ at Dick. Finally in the traditional recap we get with every episode, we are shown Tuesday’s episode when Dani takes her father off the block and Dick evicts Jameka from the house.
The Julie Update!
Next we see Julie welcoming us to tonight’s explosive episode. I thought for my final episode recap of the season, I’d pay homage to my pal Little Brother by giving you the “Julie update” he always gives in his recaps: Julie was wearing a nice silk top (dare I say showing some cleavage!) and black skirt with black heels. She had on a necklace that sort of had a fall leaves look to it and her hair seemed huge tonight! She was on fire tonight! I also heard her say a ‘but first’ at the beginning of the episode LOL
Final HOH Competition Part 1: The Bunny Hop
Next, this episode showed the continuation of the Bunny Hop competition started at the end of Tuesday night’s episode. The rain they were pouring down on them was very cold. Dani compares it to ‘melted snow.’ BB tries many things to distract the final 3 from jumping over the bunny, including explosions and covering them in feathers (which ultimately were washed away by the incessant pounding down of the cold rain water) along with thunder sounds to accompany the ‘rain.’
A little bit into the competition, Dick begins going off on Zach trying to psych Zach out. Dick puts down Zach’s teeth and Zach’s Dad being a dentist! Dick also calls Zach out on his nomination speech among many other things (see our video blog for all of the details!)
Dani has problems with this competition from the get go. She immediately starts complaining of the cold water and starts shaking uncontrollably. Dick tries to give her a pep talk to no avail. After 3 and a half hours, Dani gets hit by the bunny and is out of the competition. After Dani stops the bunny, the bunny hop part of the competition is over. However, BB continues to pelt Zach and Dick with the cold rain water. Dick and Zach try various things to keep their circulation going like running in place. Dick continues trying to psych Zach out but Zach starts cackling at Dick and mimicking him giving it right back to him. Eventually, Dick is so worn out from the comp, he gives up on this strategy.
Dani tries and tries to give Dick pep talks to keep him going. She says things such as “Remember when one of us doesn’t come through, the other one does!” and even mouths “I love you” to him. Ultimately, though, Dick’s body starts to give out on him and Dani tells him it’s ok if he goes out, it’s the third round that makes all the difference. After a respectable 7 hours and 32 minutes in the competition, Dick lets go of his key allowing Zach to win Round 1 of the HOH competition.
Following the competition, the first thing Dick does is have a cigarette! Dani admits she is proud of both Zach and Dick and makes them both some hot soup to warm them up. In the DR later, Zach says Dick tried to break him down but in reality just built him up and that ultimately Zach ended up breaking Dick.
Final HOH Competition Part 2: Dick vs. Daniele in the HOH Chain
Dick and Daniele both feel they are equal in answering questions about the HGs in Round 3 so they both decide to just go for it in Round 2 and may the best one win! Their task is to assemble a puzzle underwater linking all of the HGs in order of who won HOH from first to last. It is a timed competition and the person with the best time wins.
Daniele has some trouble doing the puzzle underwater but does get the puzzle finished. Dick then comes out with cigarette dangling from his mouth and says “Warm water this time right?” He figures out a special way to arrange the puzzle pieces by how they fit and finishes the competition rather quickly. When Zach comes out, he announces Dick and Dani’s times to them. Daniele took 24 minutes, 9 seconds while Dick finished in 12 minutes and 48 seconds winning Round 2 of the HOH competition.
In the DR, Zach says it will be amazing if he were able to take Dick down in both a physical and a mental competition. In the small bedroom, Dani whines about not winning because Dick beat her by half her time.
At the end of this segment, Julie talks to the HGs and asks Daniele about how her relationship with her dad has changed by being on BB together this season. Dani responds that she sees BB as a stepping stone and she’s ready to look for the positive in her dad and working on their relationship outside of the house. Dick says it wasn’t Dani’s permission that caused him to quit in Round 1, it was just his body gave out on him. He said it was actually Dani’s encouragement that kept him in it as long as he was. Finally, Zach tells Julie that his body and mind were so numb that he didn’t have the energy to listen to or even hear Dick’s ranting and raving during the competition.
Jameka arrives at the Jury House!
In the next segment, Jameka’s arrival at the jury house was covered. Jessica and Eric were shown continuing their flirtation around the pool. Jess asks Eric when he’s going to come visit her family in Kansas. Dustin, continuing his role as house representative in jury house interviews LOL, intimates that Eric and Jess have been having sex in the BB house and that everyone can hear them! He even goes so far as to say they are so loud it awakens the rest of the jury members (my goodness!)
After Jameka arrives, Dustin says he knows he, Jam and Amber will all be hanging out a lot in the jury house. Jameka shows everyone the dvd that BB gave her and the jury responds to Zach putting up the Donatos. They applaud Zach and Jen says “Well, duh, it was his only move left!”
Final HOH Competition Part 3: Dick vs. Zach
Dick and Zach are side by side with partitions between them for the traditional final part of the HOH competition. They have to guess what HGs who are now jury members said and finish their sentences by answering either A or B with the correct response. The one with the most points after 6 questions will become the final HOH of Big Brother 8. During this competition, Daniele is sitting in the kitchen at the kitchen table while Dick and Zach are in the LR looking at Julie on the plasma tv.
Here’s how the questions went:
Question 1: Amber said that the moment that most irritated her was Jen crying over her picture on the memory wall.
Dick 1, Zach 0
Question 2: Jen says the strongest competitor was herself. (Both Dick and Zach are incorrect.)
Question 3: Jameka said her fatal error was not looking out for herself earlier.
Dick 2, Zach 1
Question 4: Dustin said the most shocking moment of the season was Amber going off on Eric. (Both Dick and Zach are incorrect.)
Question 5: Eric said the funniest moment of the season was Jameka telling Dick his Mom was a bitch.
Dick 3, Zach 2
Question 6: Jessica respected her own game play the most.
Both Zach and Dick are incorrect. Dick wins HOH 3-2.
Dick and Daniele immediately begin celebrating screaming “WE WON! WE WON!” Dick says “We won everything, we won it all!”
The Final Eviction and The Final Two!
Julie reminds the HGs that they will still have to go through the formalities of a final eviction ceremony. She then gives Zach and Daniele the opportunity to state their cases to Dick for going to the final 2 with him. Zach says “I lost to the best, hopefully after you win the money, you’ll consider some of my inventions.” Daniele says “What a Summer, it’s hard to believe we worked so well together, we’re an amazing team and I’d be honored to sit next to you in the final 2.”
Dick basically kicks Zach out the door. Zach says “I don’t agree with your methods even though they worked.” As Zach is exiting through the door, Dani says “Say hi to Julie!” smugly. Dick then tells Dani it doesn’t matter what happens, you and me baby, unbelievable, etc. etc.
In his interview with Julie, Zach admits he laid low and thought that he could eventually establish relationships with HGs later in the summer and when that didn’t work out, he had to rely on himself. Zach also said he respect’s Dani’s game but not Dick’s, calling Dick a drill sergeant. He also tells Julie that he was never ‘solid’ with Dick and Daniele in an alliance and so he had no qualms about putting them up this week. He also admits that he knows putting them up would have garnered him respect from the jury had he made final 2.
Finally, we have Dick and Daniele’s goodbye messages to Zach. Dani says she “enjoyed getting to know you, consider you a friend, but you hurt my feelings with some of the things you said to me this week (wait until he sees some of the things she and Nick said about him earlier in the season!).” She also says “But it’s just a game and congrats on getting this far.” Dick says “You put up a hell of a fight and you will see how far off base your strategy of laying low was when you watch the show at home. I’m not sorry to see you go because that means Daniele is sitting next to me in the final two.”
What’s In Store?
As Julie closes out the episode, she reminds us that we control Eric’s jury vote and have until Saturday at midnight to vote for either Daniele or Dick to win Eric’s vote. She also reminds us that Sunday’s episode will be a “Best of Big Brother 8” episode which will also contain Dick and Dani’s favorite moments of the season. Finally, Julie tells us that Eric’s role as America’s Player will be revealed to all of the HGs during the finale!
The episode ends with Dick and Daniele looking at the memory wall and Dick exclaiming “We’re the best team ever to play this game! Janelle couldn’t do it with her partner, Will and Boogie couldn’t do it (um Dick Will made it to final 4 with Boogie so they sort of did LOL) but we did it!”
