A game changing episode! A nominee for eviction wins HOH while the other goes home! Dick calls Kail out in front of the entire house for campaigning against him! Dustin and Joe’s ‘friend’ Nate is found by Big Brother 8 producers and sheds light on all the drama. We have our first live vote of the season and the House Guests get “schooled” for their HOH competition.
For all the details on this great episode, read on!
Joe’s on the block!

Tonight’s episode begins with the aftermath of the veto ceremony and Joe being put on the nomination block in Daniele’s place. Joe swears that he will not lose it over the next three days and is confident he will be kept in the house. In the Diary Room and the house, we see the aftermath of Joe’s placement on the block. Daniele talks in the DR about how she is not ready for her Dad (Dick) to leave the house yet. In the house, Joe is seen buttering everyone up to get their votes, including Daniele!
Dick vs. Kail and the end of the showmance that never was
Dick and Kail are shown chatting on the hammock. While they talk, Dick busts Kail out on her alliance with Mike and how the other HGs have seen the way the two huddle and whisper game to each other (smartly, though, since Monday, Mike has stayed far, far away from Kail and Jen!). On the hammock, Kail directly lies to Dick’s face saying that she will be voting to keep him in the house (ironically, she ended up being the one vote against him!).
Later, in the house, Kail is shown trying to get everyone’s vote to keep Joe and evict Dick. Many of the HGs continue to tell Kail that they are on the fence (whatever power Kail thought she had, it is severely dissipated now!). Dick catches wind (from daughter Daniele!) of the fact that Kail is campaigning against him and they have an argument in the kitchen in front of many of the other HGs. Dick calls Kail “stupid and transparent” and Kail’s reaction is basically to say “whatever Dick, whatever you say.” (What could she say? He was telling the truth and calling her out!)
Dustin, Joe and Nate! (Who’s Nate? We found out tonight!)
Big Brother 8 tracks down the cause of many arguments and the ultimate cause of Dustin and Joe’s breakup, their friend Nate. Joe is shown in the house telling Dustin that he loved Nate more than he ever loved him (apparently either Joe cheated on Dustin with Nate or they both cheated with Nate at some point during their relationship, it’s been hard to follow!). Nate says that he is on Dustin’s side in all of this and that Joe had no right to call out Dustin the way that he has, especially about the gonorrhea issue (which Nate hilariously says that Joe “could have gotten from anyone, not just Dustin!” LOL).
Finally, in the end of this segment, we see Dustin and Joe’s hammock conversation from Monday night which was chronicled in that day’s 24/7 live feeds update (more proof to get the feeds! CBS edited this hour long conversation into one minute!). In this conversation, Dustin tells Joe that unequivocally he will not get his vote to stay in the house and Dustin ends the conversation by saying that Dustin “has become exactly what he used to despise” (which I still say whatever that means!)
Julie talks to the House Guests
Next up, we have the traditional time when Julie talks to the HGs during the live show. First up, Julie calls Amber out for all the crying she has been doing and laughs about the many ways Jen has fashioned her unitard (which Jen won at the veto comp) this week.
Julie then talks to Jen in the HOH room and asks Jen what she thinks and how she’s able to smile through all of Dick’s outbursts directed at her. Jen responds that she thinks Dick is very similar to her (ironically, Gretchen on House Calls has this very same theory!) and so she just smiles and learns from what he says (I think she meant she learns his strategy but who knows with Jen!)
Following Julie’s talk with Jen, we have the two speeches given by Joe and Dick to try with one last ditch effort to get their fellow HGs votes. Joe tries with everything he has to sway the HGs votes in his favor in a lightning fast speech in which he talks about what a great asset he is to the house and how he’s always wanted to be on Big Brother, etc. Dick, on the other hand, jokes about being the “shy and timid one in the house” and just asks that the other HGs vote how they feel and that he will be fine with it either way.
Big Brother 8’s First Live Vote

Big Brother 8 has Julie call the HGs into the DR one by one to cast their vote for either Joe or Dick to be evicted live rather than in pre-taped fashion as it was last week with Carol and Amber. The voting once again was almost unanimous save for one vote. Joe is to be evicted from the Big Brother 8 house. Kail is the one vote for “Evil” (Dick). In a humorous moment when Eric (America’s Player) comes to the DR, he and Julie share some camaraderie since Eric’s vote for Joe had already been decided by America (which would have been Eric’s vote anyway he says) and Eric lets us all know “you can’t spell AmERICa without Eric” : )
Joe talks with Julie following Eviction from the House

In Joe’s discussion with Julie outside of the house, he confesses that he wasn’t focused enough on the game with having Dustin in the house. Joe also said that he was probably too direct about stirring the pot and causing trouble in the house (this is funny given that in his hammock discussion with Dustin, he said the opposite and said he was more ‘indirect’ with causing issues in the house). Next, Eric is revealed to Joe to be America’s Player and the sleepwalking task was shown in its entirety to Joe, who finds the whole thing very amusing.
In the video tributes the HGs made to Joe, Dick tells Joe directly his own actions got him where he is and he deserved to go; Zach said he’s sorry but Joe just “rubbed him the wrong way”; Kail says she tried her best to campaign for him but her powers of persuasion must not have been good enough; Nick basically gives Joe a love fest about how great he is and how fun he was to be around; Jen says if he is outside of the house, her persuasive skills must suck. Finally, Dustin tells Joe in his tribute that he hopes someday Joe can get back to the person he was in the Summer of 2005 when Dustin fell in love with him but that his actions in the house are what ultimately caused his eviction.
HOH Competition: Getting Schooled
In the HOH competition, all of the eligible HGs are sitting at old fashioned elementary style school desks while Jen sits to the side at the teacher’s desk (LOL). The HGs then play a True or False game where they answer questions about things that have happened in the house so far this season.
Dustin gets the first question wrong and is out of the competition. In the second question, Jameka, Eric, and Zach answer incorrectly and are out. Kail gets the third question wrong and Amber and Nick go out on the fourth question.
It is now down to Mike, Daniele and Dick. All three of them get the fifth question wrong and all three get the sixth question right so it’s time for the tie breaker round! The tie breaker question: How many hours has Jen had her unitard? Dick guesses 120 hours, Daniele guesses 145 hours and Mike guesses 108 hours. The correct answer: 125 hours.
Dick is our new HOH! As Jen hands him the HOH room key, he shouts “Vindication baby!”

The episode ends with the America’s Player task for Eric. Who do we want him to influence Dick to nominate for eviction?
That does it for this show recap! It was quite the episode! Stay tuned this weekend as we hear a lot from More Big Brother’s own Little Brother who will now be bringing you your weekend feed updates! Little Brother will also be bringing you your Sunday episode summary this week! It should be quite a good weekend for you Little Brother with Dick as HOH! Have a great weekend everyone!
