Big Brother 8 - August 30th Re-Cap |

The crier finally goes home, some double-dealing is exposed, and a tedious HoH competition crowns an unlikely winner who is sure to shake things up this week. Also, Julie announces some interesting things about the week ahead.
Enough introductory stuff, though - let's get to the re-cap!!
Tonight's episode starts with Julie looking adorable in a cute top, and wearing nice earrings... then BLAMMO!... the camera pans out and we are subjected to some of the most hideous pants known to man. I am a strong advocate AGAINST red pants - in fact, I am against ANY pants that are a vibrant primary color. Scratch all of that - I am against any article of clothing that bright. OK, maybe I am making too much of this. I blame the bottle of wine I may or may not have drank during tonight's episode.
(By the way, the Chenbot said "But First" twice tonight, which I do believe brings our total to 17!!)
So now we have to listen to the House Guests sound off about Eric's decision not to use the veto. Amber thinks his decision wasn't fair, and that he is only thinking about himself in this game. (That's kind of the point, Amber... FYI). Zach thinks he has a fair chance against Amber, because she is perceived as a floater (unlike you, Zach? I don't see you with a solid alliance!), she can't compete (this coming from the guy who has never won anything), and she doesn't have strong relationships in the House (newsflash: everyone makes fun of you, Zach!).
In the HoH room, Jessica starts getting all worked up and teary-eyed, and tells Eric that she thinks they are making a mistake in sending Amber home, and that they should have targeted Dick and Daniele when they had the chance. She thinks that she's getting rid of the people that would actually have her best interests at heart. Eric stands firm and says, "Do you REALLY think Amber likes you? Do YOU really even like Amber!?" Jessica laughs to herself and says no.
Then, right on cue, Amber appears and starts blubbering about how she wants to stay so badly, and how important it is to her that the "GOOD PEOPLE" (whatever that means) wins. Jessica is swayed somewhat after she leaves, and Eric brings her back on track by telling her that once Zach talks to her she is going to change her mind again.
Outside, a paranoid Dick and Daniele talk about the potential of being back doored this week, which leads into a discussion of who they should keep. They settle on Zach, because with him in place, they can count on him putting Jameka up next week with Jessica, and back dooring Eric. Although Eric is in their alliance, it's a better scenario than having Amber win it and potentially get rid of one of them.
Back in the HoH room, Jameka and Amber corner Jessica and tell her that Eric is playing her and running the show. Jessica acts like she is completely into what they are saying, and nods emphatically when Amber says that the reason he hasn't won an HoH is because he is throwing them so that there won't be any pictures of himself and his apparent girlfriend on the wall in his HoH room. Eric walks in and Amber throws out a half-assed excuse that they were talking about her boyfriend. Things get awkward.
Eric drills Jessica about the conversation that he walked in on, and she tries to evade him, but does a horrible job at lying. Once Eric gets it out of her, he's visibly annoyed, and tells Jessica that it's obvious what is happening here: amber is trying to separate her from the one person who legitimately has her best interests at heart. "What a bitch", he mutters as he rolls over. He brings up her lack of credibility due to the fact that she was a hardcore drug user with a 5-year old daughter.
Dick comes into the room and they compare notes about Zach. They realize that he's tried to make deals with both sides, and Dick vows to call him out.
Julie appears again and is ready to talk to the House Guests. (Sidebar: before talking to everyone, she asks, "Is Eric America's Player, or America's PLAYA!?... I almost died laughing. Go ghetto Chen.) She asks about Jessica getting naked, about Nick showing up to support Daniele on the Power of 10, and shows a montage of Dick spitting (classy).
Thursday fluff piece time! Tonight we're introduced to Jameka's pastor and her church congregation, and meet her sister Danita, who just had a baby girl (and Jameka's third niece).
We then see Eric's family, who thinks he's in a great spot in the game, and that the relationship with Jessica is good from a strategy standpoint, but also real. They also insist that he is NOT in a relationship at the moment...
...then we meet CHERYL, the apparent girlfriend. This girl reminds me of Stacey from Wayne's World... she's kind of, uh... deluded and vacant. She can't wait for Eric to come home, and is 150% behind him. I kind of get the feeling he isn't aware of this. Creepy.
It's voting time.
JAMEKA - votes for ZACH to be evicted, and starts crying... she knows that Amber is on her way out.
ERIC - voted for AMBER... 78% of the viewers wanted her out. Eric is also told that he has completed 17 out of 24 tasks and has made $30,000 so far. Not too shabby.
DICK - voted for AMBER.
DANIELE - voted for AMBER.
It's announced - by a vote of 3-1, Amber is evicted. She hugs everybody and wishes them the best, and whispers something in Daniele's ear before she leaves. "it's just a game, just a game" she says as she leaves. Jameka starts bawling and is comforted by Daniele, who whispers "it gets easier, I've been in your place and am here if you need me".
Outside, Amber meets Julie and exclaims, "You're beautiful!" to her. She blames Eric for her eviction, and when asked how she defines a "GOOD PERSON", she says someone who is honest and doesn't make side deals. I guess, by that definition, she's a BAD PERSON. :)
The goodbye messages follow:
DANI - Since day one, you know how I feel about you.
ZACH - You now have something better to look forward to.
ERIC - You have a great heart, are a kind person... I'm very, very sorry.
JESS - You were a good person in the house... I'm glad to have met you.
DICK - I'm sorry to see you go. Just a game. No more tears!
JAMEKA - You don't know much you mean to me. I'm looking forward to hanging out; I will try to get as far as I can. I love you.
Aaaaand, of course, Amber starts crying.
The HoH Competition starts up right after. In it, the competing House Guests (Dick, Daniele, Eric, and Zach) have to transfer tea from a 55 gallon container using 3 ounce teacups to a 16 gallon receptacle until a silver ball rises to the top. There's one other catch - the walkway is covered in corn oil and baby oil.
Julie then tells us that the PoV is going to be a special one, and hosted by Janelle. YAY! Also, it is a double live eviction on Thursday...
And then the episode ends! Cliffhanger!
Want to know who wins the competition...
